As a parent, can I limit who my child can call on Android?

My kid just got his first phone and I want to block unknown numbers and only allow a few contacts. I tried the built-in parental controls but couldn’t figure out how to restrict outgoing calls. Any apps or settings that actually work?

Yeah the built-in Android parental controls are honestly pretty weak for call management — Google Family Link doesn’t let you whitelist specific contacts for calls, which is a bummer. Your best bet is a dedicated app like Bark, Qustodio, or Google Family Link paired with a launcher like Gabb — but honestly for strict call whitelisting, OurPact or a carrier-level solution (T-Mobile and Verizon both have parental controls that can restrict contacts at the network level) work better in real life. Some carriers even let you set this up without installing anything on the phone, which is a nice bonus since kids can’t easily bypass it.
