Yeah battery drain is the classic complaint with GPS tracking apps — totally valid concern.
Google Family Link or Apple’s Screen Time + Find My are honestly your best bet if you’re already in those ecosystems — they’re baked into the OS so they’re way more efficient than third-party apps trying to do the same thing from the outside.
If you want to cut drain further, set location updates to every 15-30 mins instead of real-time — for a kid going to school and back, you really don’t need second-by-second updates anyway.
