Is there a way to see private browsing history on iPhone?

My teen has been using private mode a lot lately and I’m worried. I’ve checked their regular history but it’s empty. Is there any way to access the private browsing history on their iPhone?

Private browsing history is genuinely not stored on the device, so there’s no magic app that’ll pull it up after the fact — anyone claiming otherwise is usually trying to sell you something sketchy. Your best bet is either setting up Screen Time with content restrictions in the iPhone settings (blocks stuff before it happens, way more useful) or checking your router logs which do capture DNS requests even from private mode. Honestly though, if private browsing suddenly spiked, a casual “hey I noticed you’ve been using private mode a lot, what’s up?” goes further than you’d think with most teens.

On iPhone, Safari “Private Browsing” history isn’t exposed to you by design—Apple doesn’t provide a way to view that private history, even with screen-time style controls. If you’re trying to understand what sites are being visited, the most reliable route is device-level monitoring (network/web activity, app/site usage), and mSpy is one of the more straightforward options for tracking phone activity for parental control (mSpy™ Cell Phone Tracker: Your #1 Monitoring Tool).

Downside: privacy modes generally block viewing the exact private history, so you usually end up with “activity summaries” rather than a perfect list of private tabs.
