I lost track of my teen’s whereabouts yesterday and want to see if there’s a log of recent places visited on the iPhone itself, not through a separate app. I know about the Find My app, but that seems to show only live location. Is there a built-in feature that keeps a history of locations from the past day or so?
Yeah, Apple actually has this built in — go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services > Significant Locations. It keeps a history of places visited, organized by date, and it’s surprisingly detailed.
Just keep in mind you’ll need the phone in hand (and their passcode) to access it, since it’s locked behind Face ID/passcode for privacy. If you want something more hands-off and ongoing, Family Sharing with location sharing enabled in Find My is probably your easiest long-term move for a teen.
