Honestly, the easiest starting point is just built-in stuff — Screen Time on iPhone or Google Family Link on Android are free, work great, and don’t get “detected” because they’re literally made by Apple/Google. For social media specifically, most apps like Instagram let you set up supervision mode directly in the app itself, no third-party tool needed.
If you want something more robust with a dashboard, Bark or Qustodio are the ones people here actually stick with long-term — Bark is especially good because it alerts you to concerning content rather than logging everything, so you’re not drowning in data and your kid still has some breathing room.
