I’m getting a bit worried about my teenager’s online activity and was wondering if there’s a way they could be having private conversations on instagram that I’m not aware of, I’ve been using a parental control app to monitor their activity but I’m not sure if it covers all the features.
Yeah so Instagram does have a Vanish Mode in DMs where messages disappear after they’re seen - it’s not exactly “secret” but it’s easy to miss if you don’t know about it.
Honestly though, most parental control apps don’t go deep enough into Instagram’s DMs to catch everything, so don’t rely on that alone. Your best combo is usually screen time limits + having your kid’s login so you can spot-check occasionally, and just keeping the conversation open with them about what they’re doing online.
