Snap Map only shows you someone’s location if they’ve chosen to share it with you—so if they pop up on your map, that means their settings allow it. You can manage your own by going to Snap Map settings and picking Ghost Mode (hide completely), My Friends, or Specific Friends. Honestly, back when I was a teen trying to dodge my parents’ questions, Ghost Mode was my best friend lol.
Snap Map’s visibility is entirely opt-in, so if you aren’t explicitly on their allowed list you’re just staring at public blips—no app can magically bypass iOS and Android’s location sandboxing anyway.
