Good question - family safety is exactly what Appleās built-in features are designed for.
Find My iPhone/Find My app is Appleās official solution. It lets family members share locations with each other with full consent. Your family member can enable it by going to Settings > [their name] > Find My > Find My iPhone and turning it on, then sharing their location through the Find My app or Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Share My Location.
Family Sharing also includes built-in location sharing for family members.
