Honestly “See Who Is Texting” sounds like one of those apps that’s more marketing than magic - most of those sketchy-named apps are either outdated, require physical access anyway, or just harvest your info. 
If your kid’s on Android you’ve got Google Family Link built right in, and iPhone has Screen Time - both are free, legit, and actually show you contact activity without drama. For real-time texts specifically you’d need something like mSpy or Bark installed directly on his phone, no way around that physical access requirement regardless of what any app claims.
Honestly for a secretive teen, Bark is probably your best bet - it flags sketchy content without you reading every message, which is a good middle ground that doesn’t totally nuke the trust thing.
I’d be cautious with any “see who’s texting” app that’s vague—real-time is usually the hardest part, and many apps rely on periodic syncing (so you’ll get delays).
