My teen has been sneaking out and I’m worried about who they’re talking to online. I’ve seen a lot of mixed things about that spapp app and I’m just trying to figure out if it actually works without being too obvious. Does anyone have real experience with it?
Yeah, Spapp (now rebranded as Phone Tracker by SpyPhone) does actually work for the basics - GPS location, call logs, SMS, and some social media monitoring - but it requires physical access to install on Android, no way around that.
The “not too obvious” part is tricky though - it can run in the background but it’s not invisible, and honestly a halfway tech-savvy teen will eventually notice something’s up or find it in settings.
Real talk: for a sneaking-out situation specifically, your easiest wins are probably Google Family Link or Apple Screen Time (already built into the phone, way less drama), checking your carrier’s app for location history, or just having Find My/Google Location sharing turned on - teens often accept that without a huge fight if you frame it as a safety thing rather than surveillance.
