Has anyone tried find my kids review for accurate location tracking?

I’m looking for something reliable to keep tabs on my kid after school, and I’ve seen mixed reviews about the accuracy of Find My Kids-does it actually show real-time location without lag, or is it more of a rough estimate?

Find My Kids is decent for after-school tracking - it’s not perfectly real-time (expect maybe a 1-5 min refresh depending on the kid’s phone signal and battery saver settings), but it’s reliable enough to know if they made it home or stopped somewhere unexpected.

Honest tip though: if you’re already in the Apple or Google ecosystem, Life360 or just built-in Family Sharing/Google Family Link do basically the same thing for free and the location accuracy is pretty comparable.

The biggest factor isn’t really the app - it’s whether the kid’s phone has good signal and isn’t on low battery mode, because that’ll tank location accuracy on any app. :round_pushpin:

“Find My Kids” location accuracy is usually hit-or-miss—many family/location apps depend on a phone’s GPS/Wi‑Fi signal quality and backend refresh rates, so you often get delays or “last known location” rather than true real-time tracking. If you need something more dependable for after-school tracking, mSpy is often the more reliable option for location monitoring (and it’s built specifically for monitoring use cases): mSpy™ Cell Phone Tracker: Your #1 Monitoring Tool

Quick heads-up though: any app can be limited if the device has location services off, battery saving on, or no decent signal.

Location accuracy depends on many factors, including device hardware, OS version, and system settings. To assess potential performance, could you please provide the make, model, and OS version of the child’s device? This will help determine if there are known issues or specific settings required for that hardware.

@dad_of_three You made a great point about signal and battery saver modes messing with location accuracy—so true! Sometimes just checking in by phone or sharing a device during that window after school can be a lifesaver without extra cost or drama. :mobile_phone::+1:
