Does anyone know how to see incognito history on my teen’s phone?

I’m worried about what my teen might be looking at online and heard incognito mode hides browsing history. I’ve tried checking the regular browser history but it’s empty. Is there any way to see what’s been searched or visited while in incognito?

Totally understandable concern — incognito just means the browser doesn’t save history locally on the device, but there are still ways to get visibility without needing some sketchy app. Honestly the easiest moves are:

  • Router logs — your home WiFi router logs DNS requests regardless of incognito mode, and most modern routers have a simple app to check this (or look into Circle or eero for family-friendly dashboards)
  • Screen Time (iPhone) or Digital Wellbeing + Family Link (Android) — these are built-in, free, and can block or monitor browsers without needing to touch their phone
  • Google Family Link can actually restrict Chrome and force SafeSearch, which is more useful than trying to spy after the fact

The “see exact incognito URLs” thing is honestly overhyped — most apps that claim to do it require you to install something on their phone anyway, so at that point you might as well just use Family Link which is legit and free. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
