Yeah totally get the worry, late nights with a teenager is stressful. Honestly the easiest free move is just checking if your kid already has a Google or Apple account you set up for them - you can enable Google Family Link or Apple Screen Time/Family Sharing and get their location right there, no sneaking needed.
The “without them knowing” part is where I’d pump the brakes a little - not because it’s scandalous, but because it usually backfires with teens and you lose their trust when they find out (and they always find out 
). Having a straight convo like “hey I’m adding location sharing, it’s non-negotiable while you live here” actually works better long-term.
