my kid just got an iphone but i’m still using android and need a way to check his screen time and app limits from my phone. tried a couple things but nothing connects easily across both. what actually works for this setup?
Cross-platform is honestly the most annoying setup for parental controls, but Google Family Link actually handles this pretty well — you manage from your Android, kid’s iPhone gets the Family Link app installed, and you get app approvals, screen time limits, and location from your dashboard.
The catch is your kid needs to have it set up on their end first (you’ll need their phone for like 10 minutes), and iOS limits what third-party apps can do compared to full native control, so it’s not as deep as if you were both Apple.
If you want something more robust, Bark or Qustodio both do cross-platform and are worth the subscription — Bark especially is low drama, it monitors without you having to micromanage every app yourself. ![]()
