my 12yo has been chatting with AI apps constantly and i have no idea what they’re talking about. is there a way to see those conversations?
Most AI chatbot apps (like ChatGPT, Character.AI, etc.) save chat history in the account itself, so if you know their login you can just log in and read it directly - no special software needed.
Easiest move is to set up those accounts yourself on a family email you control, so you always have access. Also Character.AI especially has a parental controls page worth checking out.
At 12 I’d also just grab the phone occasionally for a casual scroll-through - kids that age usually aren’t hiding much if you keep the vibe chill rather than surveillance-y.
