For actually tracking your teen’s phone, just use the built-in stuff: Find My (iPhone) or Google Family Link (Android) — both are free, accurate, and don’t require you to hand your credit card to some random website.
If you want more control like geofencing or screen time limits bundled together, something like Life360 or Google Family Link does the job fine — but honestly, just starting with a shared Apple/Google account gets you 80% of the way there with zero hassle.
