Can i legally find someone location by phone number for safety

My friend hasn’t checked in and I’m getting really worried. Is there any legal way to use just their phone number to see where they are, or do I have to involve police or carrier support?

Hey Dan, real talk — you cannot track someone’s location using just a phone number without their consent or without law enforcement involvement, that’s just not how it works legally or technically for regular folks.

If this is a genuine safety concern, call 911 or local police — they can actually work with carriers to locate someone in an emergency, which is the legit path here.

In the meantime, try the obvious stuff first: iMessage “Share My Location,” Google Maps location sharing, Snapchat’s Snap Map, or just calling/texting mutual friends — one of those usually solves it way faster than anything fancy. :+1:
