my kid keeps using incognito and i cant see what sites hes visiting anymore even though i have a tracker installed on his phone. i read somewhere that private mode might block history but im not sure if thats true for all apps. does anyone know if these trackers can still pull the data or if i need something else?
Yeah incognito basically just stops the browser from saving history locally on the device, but a good monitoring app that’s properly installed works at a deeper level than the browser, so it can still log sites regardless of private mode.
The catch is your tracker needs to be a legit parental control app (like Bark, Qustodio, or mSpy) not just a basic history viewer - those deeper ones use VPN filtering or device-level monitoring that incognito can’t dodge.
Honestly though if your current app isn’t catching it, easiest quick fix is just setting up Google Family Link or Apple Screen Time depending on his phone - those have DNS-level filtering that makes incognito basically pointless.
