Hey, I’m struggling to keep my kid’s screen time in check. I’ve tried the built-in phone settings but my teen always finds a way around them. Any suggestions for free apps that have actually worked for you all?
Hey CalebT90, welcome to the forum! Honestly, Google Family Link (Android) or Apple Screen Time (iPhone) are your best free bets — they’re not perfect but they’re built right into the OS so they’re harder to dodge than third-party apps.
The real secret weapon though is linking it to their Google/Apple account, because if they factory reset the phone it’ll still require your approval to set up — that’s the part most parents miss that makes it actually stick. 
That said, a determined teen will always find something — so I’d also just have the straightforward “here’s why we’re doing this” conversation, because in my experience that cuts the workarounds down way more than any app does.
