Xiaomi will be launching its new member in Redmi series ” The Redmi Note 5 ” on 14 February, The redmi note series is very popular in India, One thing to note that top 2 positions in the top-selling smartphone are acquired by Redmi 4 and Redmi note 4 respectively that indicate the love for redmi series in India followed by Samsung’s top-selling smartphone Galaxy J2 that sits quietly in the third position.
Xiaomi is expected to launch two variants: Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro, Previously some renders suggested a single variant ” Redmi Note 5 ” with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 processor but latest leaks are taking it in the other direction:
Redmi Note 5 will be rebranded version of Redmi 5 Plus that is only available in China as of now through their official partners, equipped with a 6-inch screen and a Snapdragon 625 Processor, 12 MP Rear Camera, 5 MP selfie shooter, 18:9 display.
Redmi Note 5 Pro will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor clocked at 1.8 GHz coupled with an Adreno 506 GPU along with a dual-camera setup on the back arranged similarly to the likes of the iPhone X and a 20 MP selfie shooter on the front.
There will be a 5.99 inches FHD+ resolution (1080×2160) screen under a 2.5D glass and most probably without any protection like Asahi dragon tail glass or Corning’s Gorilla Glass, Redmi series has a bad reputation in terms of the display but we keep our hope high that this time Xiaomi will integrate at least corning gorilla glass to their display.

On the back, there is a dual 12 MP + 5 MP camera setup with an aperture of f/2.2, 1.25 μm pixel size and f/2.0 lens, 1.12 μm pixel size respectively. The second 5 MP camera will be used for perfect focused foreground and blurred backgrounds.
The fingerprint scanner is positioned on the back, while the power button and volume rocker sit on the right side. There is a huge 4000 mAh battery, its a normal tradition of putting 4000 mah batteries in redmi phones by Xiaomi, We still doubt if new Redmi Note 5 or even PRO version will be equipped with a USB Type C port, but according to leaked specifications it still uses micro USB port to charge the device.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro will arrive with MIUI 9, based on Android Nougat though there is a good possibility of Android OREO too and will be available in Blue, Rose Gold, Champagne Gold and Black colors. There will be three variants: 3 GB + 32 GB, 4 GB + 64 GB and 6 GB + 64 GB.
The expected price according to a leak is Rs 15,400 but actual price will be unveiled at the launch event on 14 February.
