If you are looking to root your HTC U11, the folks over at TeamWin have released an official build of the TWRP recovery for the device. What this means is we can now flash TWRP and root HTC U11.

First of all, you need an unlocked bootloader on your HTC U11. You can follow our guide to Unlock Bootloader on HTC devices to achieve that. Once that is done, you can proceed to flash TWRP and root HTC U11.


  • Unlocked bootloader
  • Go to Settings > Developer Options, and enable OEM Unlock and USB debugging
  • Download ADB and Fastbook – DOWNLOAD
  • TWRP file – DOWNLOAD . After downloading, rename the file to twrp.img and copy it to the nano_ADB folder
  • SuperSU 2.82 zip . Download and copy this zip file to the internal storage of your device- DOWNLOAD


  1. Connect  your HTC U11 to your PC
  2. Open the ADB folder. Then press Shift + Right click > Open command window here. In the command window, type in the following commands one-by-one & hit Enter after each command
    adb reboot bootloader
  3. Now your HTC U11 should be in bootloader mode and you can issue the following command
    fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
  4. Once done, you can boot directly into TWRP by issuing the following command
    fastboot boot twrp.img
  5. Now your phone should be in the TWRP menu, asking you if you want to keep system read-only. Simply Swipe to Allow Modifications at the bottom
  6. Next, you will be presented with 8 boxes
  7. Tap Install and look for the SuperSu 2.82 zip file you copied over to the internal storage. Select it and on the next screen, simply Swipe to Confirm Installation

  8. After the flash completes successfully, tap Reboot System. If TWRP asks you to install the TWRP zip, tap Do not Install
  9. After your device as booted up, you should see the SuperSU icon in your app drawer indicating that you have managed to successfully root HTC U11
