As always, this year also we expect Asus to come with a lineup of devices under the “Zenfone 5” branding all the way from an entry-level Smartphone to an all-out premium flagship.
Asus has already sent out an invitation for the “Back to 5” event scheduled to happen at MWC 2018 and we are expected the brand to launch at least 3 different devices at this event.
Today we have a leaked render image of what is supposedly one of the “Asus Zenfone 5” series Smartphone that will launch at MWC 2018.
The device depicted in the image has an internal naming of “Asus X00PQ” and features a tall display likely around 5.7-inches and from the looks, it does seem like an 18:9 (2:1) ratio display unit.
Talking about the looks of the device, apart from the 18:9 display, there is a dual-camera setup in the rear, which is nothing new from Asus. However, the dual-camera are aligned vertically which is something new from the brand and will be something that Asus will stick to moving forward.
The X00PQ model discussed here have also been entered in Geekbench database, which reveals that the device will be powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 430 chipset and 3GB RAM and will run on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system.
Despite featuring an 18:9 display and dual-rear camera, the X00PQ is not expected to be the premium offering in the Zenfone 5 series. Instead, latest rumors suggest that this model will be called “Asus Zenfone 5 Lite” and will be the mid-tier offering among the 3 Zenfone 5 series devices to be announced at MWC 2018.
