As per latest confirmation by Samsung executive, we are just weeks away from the official unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus which is scheduled to happen during the MWC event in Barcelona.
As we are moving closer to the announce date, more and more details on the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ are surfacing. Today, we get more details on the advancements in technology that we can expect specifically on the Galaxy S9.
To begin with, the Samsung Galaxy S9 will be featuring a Substrate-like PCB which will provide more space for additional internal components. Even though we do not know what the additional internal components will be for the Galaxy S9, expectations are for a better camera sensor setup.
Another feature unique to the Galaxy S9 will be its iris scanner setup. Unlike previous generation devices, the Galaxy S9 is expected to integrate the iris scanner to the front-facing camera sensor as hinted by the better f/1.5 aperture of the Galaxy S9 compared to the f/2.4 aperture of the Galaxy S9+, the S9+, by the way, will retain the separate iris scanner setup from its predecessor.
Something that the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will share is a new proprietary display panel from Samsung. The new display panel is termed “Y-Octa Display Panel” and will have the touch layer incorporated to the OLED panel. This new panel will provide better viewing experience, will be thinner and lighter and will also be cheaper to manufacture than the current OLED display panels.
