Along with Nokia 7 Plus which Nokia launched at MWC 2018, Nokia 1, its smaller brother too is making its way to the market. The phone is budget oriented and is priced aggressively. It hopes to gain some market share for Nokia in the low-end budget segment where it used to have a stronghold in its glorious past. Let’s take a look what the Nokia 1 has to offer.
Nokia 1 Design
Nokia 1 comes with a very compact design made entirely of polycarbonate like the Nokia of yesteryear. The Nokia 1 will also have quirky colors like bright Red and deep blue. It has a spherical design and looks quite plain, to be honest. The build looks solid if that’s any consolation.
Nokia 1 Display
The Nokia 1 will have a 4.5 Inch display touting 480×854 pixels with 217 Pixels per inch which isn’t phenomenal or anything but then again we can’t expect it from a sub $100 phone. The phone is made to target and penetrate the tightly budget oriented market and the customers in that segment don’t care about the sharpness of the displays.
Nokia 1 Camera
A 5-megapixel shooter with LED flash is placed at the back of the device, it’s nothing fancy but will get the job done. The front sports a 2-megapixel selfie camera which is, again, nothing groundbreaking. But who was expecting it to be anyway?
Nokia 1 Specifications
The Nokia one runs on a quad-core Mediatek MT6737M chipset coupled with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of Internal storage. There is a hybrid Sim slot which can be used to run a sim and a micro SD card in tandem or 2 sim cards together.
Nokia 1 Software
Nokia 1 is a part of the Android Go Program; the program was developed for lower-end phones to tap into the developing and underdeveloped markets like India, Africa, etc. What Android go is a lighter version of Android Oreo which will have lightweight apps which consume lower amounts of data. It is optimized to run on low-end hardware so even though the Nokia 1 is quite basic it should run well.
Nokia 1 Battery
The Nokia 1 comes with a 2150 mAh battery which should last you a regular day with normal usage.
Nokia 1 Miscellaneous
Since the Nokia 1 is a basic device, the phone doesn’t come with a type c connector which is expected in this price range, apart from this everything seems to be ordinary. All the sensors seem to be present along with the usual connectivity options.
Nokia 1 pricing and Availability
The Nokia 1 is priced at US $85 (Aprox. Rs. 5500). The phone will go on sale in the 1st week of April.
We expect the phone to be targeted towards developing nations like India, Brazil, Chile, etc. which is why the pricing of the phone has been set with a very budget oriented mindset in mind.
