Here is an easy Step-by-Step guide on How to Unlock Bootloader on HTC devices. As per HTC’s new warranty policy unlocking the bootloader on your HTC device wont void your warranty, but we advise you to make sure that you follow the steps exactly in the order they are presented.

PRE-REQUISITES

  • Create an account at HTCDEV
  • Backup all the data on your device
  • HTC Drivers installed on your PC
  • Download nano_ADB & extract the zip file to a folder – DOWNLOAD

UNLOCK BOOTLOADER ON HTC DEVICES

  1. Connect your HTC device to your PC
  2. Open the nano_ADB folder. Then Shift + Right click > Open command window here. In the command window, type in the following commands one-by-one & hit Enter after each command
    adb reboot bootloader
    fastboot devices (This should return a serial code like in the snip below)

    fastboot oem get_identifier_token (This should return a code like in the snip below)

  3. Copy the identifier token exactly as highlighted in the image above and paste it on to a notepad file
  4. On your PC, log in to your HTCDEV account that you created earlier & click Unlock Bootloader
  5. ThensSelect your device from the dropdown list. If you cannot find your device in the list, select All Supported Models and then click Begin Unlock Bootloader 
  6. Click YES in the dialog box that pops up
  7. Check both the boxes in the next dialog box and click Proceed to Unlock
  8. Scroll down to the bottom on the next page, and click Proceed to Step 5
  9. Scroll down to the bottom of the next page till you see the box as in the pic below
  10. Paste the identifier token you copied in Step 3 in the My Device Identifier Token box shown above and click Submit. After pasting, it should look like this
  11. Check your registered email for the HTC Unlock token. Usually it does not take more than a couple of minutes to arrive
  12. Download the token file, it should be a file named Unlock_code.bin and save it to the nano_adb folder. Please note that this file is specific to your phone only, and cannot be used on other HTC phones, even if it’s the same model
  13. Go back to the command prompt, and enter this command
    fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
  14. Once you enter the above command, a screen will come up on your HTC device asking you whether you really want to unlock the bootloader or not. Use the Volume key to highlight the Yes option, and select it using the Power button.
  15. Your phone will now reboot , and your bootloader is now unlocked
