Same is the case for Odin as it was previously available for windows only but in recent days, a developer Adam Outler developed the Mac version of the Odin software known as JOdin for Mac OSx.

To download Odin for Mac Osx and install it on your Mac OS x you need to follow the steps mentioned below to install Jodin3.

The Odin version that can be used on Mac OS x is named as JOdin3. As mentioned above, the Odin software is not available for Mac officially and hence the name.  One more thing to take care is that you can choose either the offline mode or online mode of which we will be discussing as we proceed.

Requirements to install Odin in Mac OSx

  • Before flashing your device using Jodin and Mac OSx on your Samsung Galaxy Smartphones you need to ensure that your device battery percentage is more than 60% and it will be better if you can connect the charger while operating jodin3. The reason behind this is simple, as during the flashing process if your phone gets switched off then it would cause problems later on. Also, some functions do not work when your battery percentage is less than 20%.
  • Install the latest version of Java on your MAC OSX from here.
  • Download and install Heimdall on your MAC OSX from here.
  • Also, make sure that you have Samsung Kies and other drivers installed in your Mac OS x.
  • On your Samsung Galaxy device make sure that you had enabled USB debugging mode or else the connection from your Mac OS x to your Samsung Galaxy Smartphone device will not work correctly.

How to use Odin (Jodin3) in Mac OSx

The software can be used as an online mode or can be downloaded from the link given above to use it offline.

  • You can either use the offline version or Jodin3 or can use the online version of Jodin3 too.
  • Open the Jodin3 app and there you will find many options, you need to look for the PDA tab and click on it.
  • Then you need to navigate to .tar.md5 file which you want to flash on your Samsung Galaxy Device.
  • The next thing you need to do is booting your mobile to download mode or Odin mode. To do that you need to turn off the device first and make sure that you have battery % more than 60 or connected to charger socket. Then you need to press down volume key, home button and power key simultaneously. A menu will appear on your screen which will ask your permission to set your device to download mode. Use the volume up key to submit yes and enter the download mode.
  • Uncheck all the option in your Odin software but leave the auto reboot option unchecked.
  • After that you can click the start button to proceed thereafter once flashing is done your device will automatically reboot.

The process is quite similar to that of windows OS but then it is not the official version and there may some lag or some bug in the software. These malfunctions, is, however, taken care by the developer team to ensure smooth flashing for your Samsung Galaxy device.
